Web Development Portfolio

Portfolio of Work: Database Driven Web Sites (Page 1)

Client: Rentright
Location: Basingstoke
URL: www.rentright.co.uk

Ampheon were initially approached to take over the development of this leading UK property rental portal after the company experienced difficulties with their previous web development supplier. The site was redeveloped over several phases, before being completely resigned with additional functionality in 2010. The site is now at the forefront of the UK lettings market, receiving outstanding feedback for its ease of use.

Client: LCCI Business Advice Surgery
Location: London
URL: www.londonchamber.co.uk/obas

Ampheon were selected by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry to build a Business Advice Surgery, where members could post questions and business experts could post responses. The system needed to integrate with the existing design style of the site as well as the existing content management components that generate some of the site elements. It also needed to interact directly with the membership database via a custom-written API, and provide user logins and admin areas for the business advisors and LCCI members. From an administration perspective, the administrator needed to be able to manage text and banner advertisements, all questions and answers, all categories and all business experts and members.

Client: Room FT
Location: London
URL: www.roomft.com

Room FT, a site allowing people to rent their rooms to tourists, approached Ampheon following a desire to switch from their existing web developers. We first thoroughly reviewed the existing web site code finding both functional and security issues that required immediate resolution. Once this was done, we were commissioned to undertake a number of phased update projects to improve functionality and usability for the site visitors and members and have continued to provide phased development updates to the company ever since. This highly custom database website development goes from strength to strength with visitors signing up on a daily basis from all over the world.

Client: Approved Business
Location: Gravesend
URL: www.approvedbusiness.co.uk

Initially the client approached Ampheon with respect to online marketing, and upon Ampheon's advice the existing website was redesigned from scratch with search engine optimisation at the very heart of the site development. At the time, the site operated under a different name. The decision to rebuild the site was a good one; following the site redesign the average number of site visitors jumped by 500% in just 3 months! Ampheon then went on to suggest the current business name to better support the business model with the name Approved Business being adopted. This further strengthened the company's position by providing a strong, recognisable brand.

Client: Agentright
Location: Milton Keynes
URL: www.agentright.com

We were commissioned to build the Agentright website as a property portal consolidator system, where estate agents can upload property details (for sale and rent), enter their account details of the various property portals they are subscribed to, and the properties are then automatically fed through to all of the portals. The site is currently in beta trials with a number of agents, with a view to a full rollout shortly.

Client: Golfmates
Location: Rainham, Kent
URL: www.golfmates.co.uk

This project was to build a self-managing site that would match golfers with one another. The system includes a registration process, a personal profile builder, details of every golf club in the UK, search matching processes, and a full integration with RBS Worldpay to collect an optional annual subscription fee. The site also includes an administrative console to allow the administrator to manage every aspect of the site, and an automated renewal application to send out renewal notices.

Client: POEMS for Children
Location: London
URL: www.poemsforchildren.co.uk

POEMS for Children is a course introducing management strategies that allow practitioners to effectively reduce anxiety in children. We were commissioned to build a web site that included both course management and online booking via PayPal to enable the company to manage their courses effectively. Management includes being able to add and remove courses, set maximum participant numbers and automatically prevent overbooking when a course is full. The site was deliberately designed to be graphically light to appeal to the target practitioner market.

Client: Jeffries Estate Agents
Location: Drayton
URL: www.jeffries.uk.com

The Jeffries web site was built to include a small administration control panel where the site administrator could upload latest news articles. An online search linked directly in to their Encore property management software to return property search results back to the site. The remainder of the site was unlikely to change much, and the decision was made to leave these as static web pages that we would update periodically on behalf of Jeffries.

Client: Pink Clover Club
Location: London
URL: www.pinkcloverclub.com

The Pink Clover Club web development project required us to write a completely bespoke dating web site. The site includes two unique registration options; either a friend can register a member on their behalf and recommend them, or a member can register direct and then ask a friend to give them a recommendation. This unique concept was coded into the site along with advanced searching, image manipulation, online 1-to-1 chat, and online payment via SagePay.

Client: Pilgrims
Location: Canterbury
URL: www.pilgrims.co.uk

Pilgrims, one of the UK's leading English Language Training providers, have been an Ampheon client for many years. It was Ampheon that originally took Pilgrims onto the web with a simple design concept. Since then the site, and the number of resultant sales, have grown year to year. The site, almost entirely database-driven, is now regarded to be one of the leading sites in the company's industry.
